I didn’t intend to post only about the Barracks Bands of Harvest 2018. If anything it must speak for my love of the underdog, and my love for the indie music scene. If Fredericton wasn’t made aware of its rich music culture, thanks to a little-known production released in April 2018, then they should know now. Up against names like Mavis Staples, the Barracks had a packed house all weekend.
Walking in I was aware of the underrepresentation of female artists in the music industry.
I lived in Calgary up until 2008, played in a little indie band, and got to know first hand what it was like being a female musician in a male-dominated world. Ironically, I was the band’s photographer and never thought that one day it would become my career. After starting a family, and moving to New Brunswick, I hoped the balance would have shifted in those ten years. Yet, I was only graced by a handful of talented women be it, managers, light and sound techs, musicians, or visual artists. I hope to be apart of the change in the coming years to make it so and have already met many promising female art students here in NB.
Big shout out to all women in the industry and especially those who were apart of Harvest! For the most part, I was the only female in the pit, except for one elusive videographer who would not let me take her photograph…
This was my first year as an Offical Photographer for Harvest Jazz and Blues. I want to give a huge shout out to everyone whom I spent time with backstage, and give recognition to the kindness they showed me. Big Shout out to veteran James West for making me feel apart of the team, and fellow photo nerd Dillon Anthony for inspiration. Two very talented photographers, nice guys, and Offical Harvest Photographers of 2018.

Sarah is very creative and had some amazing ideas and even brought us some wardrobe options for the shoot! She is very accommodating and was extremely helpful. She went well above the call of duty to make the shoot a success. Wonderful artistic vision and took great shots for my band (and some engagement photos […]

Sarah did family photos for us in the summer and we are SO happy with the results! She managed to capture amazing moments in both the larger group shots and the smaller individual family photos. Wholeheartedly recommend! like, love, and share.
